Hello! My name is Felisha Pedersen, and I am the owner and portrait artist at Bébé Faces. I have recently moved to Århus, Denmark with my wonderful husband, who happens to be a Dane.
I come from Los Angeles, California and have worked in the film industry for 10 years after earning my bachelors degree from the University of Southern California -School of Cinematic Arts. It is the best film school in the USA with notable alumni such as George Lucas, Robert Zemeckis and many more. To see some fun pictures of my life in Hollywood, see below.
The newborn stage is so precious, yet most parents are so tired in the beginning that their memory of it becomes a unfortunate blur. Some told me they took pictures with their “nice” cameras, but when they print, it is obvious the photo was not great, and they were unsatisfied with the results. It’s because there is more to photography than pressing a button on a nice camera or cell phone. There is a difference between what they do themselves, which is “take pictures”, and what a professional artist does, which is create portraits.
As a professional, I love to create portraits that people value, cherish, and don’t have the means to create on their own. To have beautiful portraits of their brand-new baby’s little features and as they grow during the 1st year is something everyone deserves, and is well worth the investment. There are people who are fine with spending 4000-10,000 kr on a TV that will have no value in 18 years, but think that professional portraits of their own child is too expensive. In 10, 20, 30 years and beyond, portraits will hold more value in their heart than that TV, new cell phone, or anything else they bought. People invest in portraits because they understand this truth.
I WISH I had some really cool newborn portraits of myself, but newborn portrait art wasn’t a thing in 1982 when I was born. Kids today are blessed with portrait artists who can document their newborn stage and 1st year in a unique and beautiful way. These prints become an heirloom to be passed on from generation to generation, where a kid in 2086 can say, “look at this cool portrait of my grandfather when he was a newborn baby, how awesome.”
The first weeks of a newborns life are very special, and their first year is over before you know it. I feel blessed to help make these moments last forever, and that is why I love photographing babies.
From my time working in Hollywood, I have shared just a few pictures with actors and actresses you might recognize below:
